About Me
I'm Hannah, a qualified pluralistic counsellor.
I believe counselling works best when it is shaped around you as an individual. Pluralistic counselling recognises that there is no single approach that works for everyone, so together we'll explore what feels most helpful and adapt our work as your needs change.
Starting counselling can bring up all sorts of thoughts and feelings. Whether you're feeling uncertain, hopeful, anxious or simply curious, we'll take things at a pace that feels right for you. My aim is to create a space where you feel safe and listened to, with the freedom to explore whatever feels important.
My Journey
My own experience of counselling has shown me the value of having a safe space to explore thoughts and emotions without judgement. It helped me make sense of what I was going through, understand my thoughts and feelings, and realise that I wasn't alone in my experiences. Alongside my professional training, this personal experience shapes the empathy, care and compassion I bring to my work.
Professional Experience
For over 10 years, I have supported adults experiencing a wide range of mental health, addiction, substance use, and homelessness challenges across prison, community, and mental health crisis settings. These experiences have strengthened my understanding of the challenges life can bring and reflect my genuine commitment to supporting others.
For the past two years, I have also volunteered as a counsellor with Ellenor Hospice, supporting individuals and families experiencing grief, bereavement and other significant life challenges. I understand that grief is deeply personal, and there is no right or wrong way to grieve. Whether a loss is recent or happened many years ago, I believe support should be available whenever it is needed.
My Approach
As a pluralistic counsellor, I draw on a range of therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic and Person-centred therapy. Rather than following one fixed way of working, I adapt my approach to suit your individual needs, recognising that what feels helpful can be different for each person.
