Frequently asked questions

Can I contact you before booking?

Absolutely. I'm happy to answer any questions you may have and help you decide whether counselling with me feels like the right fit for you. There is no obligation to book.

How do I book a session?

You can book a session through the contact form on my website, or simply get in touch by phone, message or email at hannahcaseycounselling@gmail.com. You also have the option to arrange a time to chat with me before booking your first session, so you can ask any questions and get a feel for whether counselling feels right for you. We can then find a time that works for you.

How do I know if counselling is right for me?

If you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or facing something difficult, counselling can offer a safe space to explore what’s going on. You don’t need to know exactly what you need — we can work together to understand what would be helpful and whether counselling feels like the right fit for you.

What does counselling cost?

Sessions are £50 and last for 50 minutes. Payment can be made by bank transfer (details will be provided) or cash. I ask that payments by bank transfer are made 24–48 hours before your scheduled session. If you would prefer to pay by cash, this can be arranged before your first session.

From time to time, my fees may be reviewed. If my fee changes while we are working together, I will give you at least two months' notice before any increase takes effect.

How do online and telephone counselling work?

Online counselling takes place via a secure video platform, allowing you to access support from wherever you feel most comfortable. Telephone counselling offers the same opportunity to talk and reflect over the phone. Both provide a flexible and confidential way to access counselling.

How many sessions will I need?

There is no set number of sessions. Some people find a few sessions helpful, while others benefit from longer-term support. We'll regularly review how you're finding counselling and decide together what feels right for you.

Do I need to be referred by my GP?

No. You can contact me directly whenever you feel ready to begin counselling. A GP referral is not required.

How long is each session?

Each counselling session lasts 50 minutes. If you arrive a little late, the session will still finish at the scheduled time, so we can keep things running smoothly for everyone. If you know you’re going to be late, just let me know where possible.

What if I need to cancel an appointment?

If you need to cancel or rearrange a session, I kindly ask for at least 48 hours' notice where possible. Appointments cancelled with less than 48 hours' notice, or missed without notice, may be charged at the full session fee. I understand that unexpected situations can arise and will always consider exceptional circumstances.

Do you work with children?

No, at the moment, I work with adults aged 18 and over. If you're looking for counselling for a child or young person, I'd be happy to signpost you to services that may be able to help.

What type of counselling do you offer?

I'm a qualified pluralistic counsellor, which means I tailor counselling to your individual needs rather than following a single approach. I draw on person-centred therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and psychodynamic ideas, working collaboratively to find what feels most helpful for you.

Will our sessions be confidential?

Yes. Confidentiality is a fundamental part of our work together. Everything you share will remain confidential, with a small number of legal and safeguarding exceptions, which I'll explain clearly before we begin.

What if I'm not ready to talk about something?

That's completely okay. There is no pressure to discuss anything before you feel ready. We will work at your pace, and you're always in control of what you choose to share.

What if I need urgent or crisis support?

Please note that I do not provide a crisis service. If you need urgent support, please contact your GP, NHS 111 or your GP's out-of-hours service.
